Mt. Hood from the South

Yep, you guessed it, Mount Hood again. It’s obviously one of my favorite places to visit out here, and there are so many opportunities for photographs around/of it. This shot is very similar to the one that I put up from my first visit to Mt. Hood, I just chose to go at a better time of day this trip. I really like how the setting sun threw a warm glow onto the mountain and the close hillside, while the river was down in the shade and had a cool blue color to it. This shot is an HDR image made from one photo, the sunlight on the mountain was still too bright to get good detail in the rocks. Let me know what you think in the comments.Mt. Hood South

Tamanawas Falls

Visited this waterfall last weekend, didn’t get to go during a decent time of day for photography, so I did the best I could with the harsh midday light. The hike in here was pretty nice, and you could even walk up behind the waterfall. I’m glad my camera is weather sealed… It was absolutely soaked from the mist.

Spirit Falls

Almost 600 feet of elevation change over 0.2 miles… The things I’ll do to take a picture… Oh well, I got to sit next to this thing for a few hours and just enjoy nature. Can’t complain about that at all. Spirit Falls

Mt. Hood… again…

Today I ventured over to Mt. Hood, rather than shooting it from a distance, I explored possibilities up close. I’ve had only a few minutes to sort/edit some files, so there will most likely be more to come from today. I’m pretty happy with this one, next time I’ll get there early in the morning/late at night to get some better light for the shot.Mt. Hood Slow Water

Clearing Rainstorm

It rained pretty steadily all day yesterday, but late in the evening as the sun started to dip down behind the mountains the clouds broke and took on an ominous blue-gray look. Thanks for visiting, hope you enjoy!

Dog Mountain

Today I got to venture out and do a dayhike on Dog Mountain. It’s situated in Washington state, with an elevation of somewhere around 2900 feet above sea level. It was a challenging hike, especially for someone accustomed to the terrain of Michigan and Florida… The view from the top was spectacular though, and I’m planning another trip up it very soon. One whole side of the mountain is currently covered in a yellow wildflower (that I do not know the name of), and this will be the focus of my next trip. Today I just wanted to survive the hike, and get the lay of the land. I did grab a few pictures today, and the one that follows is probably my favorite, however I know I can do better, and I’ll get those up as soon as I capture them (well not right away, I’ll have to survive the hike down again…)

Mt. Hood

Haven’t posted any new content lately, as many of you know things changed for me pretty drastically a few weeks ago, and I’ve just been too busy to get out with the camera. That being said, I’m in a beautiful part of our country temporarily, and I’ll be clicking the shutter like crazy in the coming months.

Other than the bald skies, I kinda like this one. I’m waiting on my camera to arrive, and I’m using a borrowed point and shoot at the moment. Everyone says that the camera doesn’t matter, and they’re correct… to an extent. I’m loving the compactness of this point and shoot, but it can be limiting at times. Oh well, at least I’m in a beautiful area and I’m still taking pictures. I’m planning on revisiting this site that we found today in the near future, and I’ll be sure to post those photos (assuming I get anything worth posting!).
