Finally some nice weather today!
After a long hiatus, I’ve updated a few things about the site, updated some gear, and plan on posting a ton of new content in the coming months! I decided to change the sites name to caseyendelman.com so it’s a bit easier to find. Couple of other tweaks in the works.
I was up in Fort Gratiot, MI this morning, and took this quick shot of the Blue Water Bridges in the predawn light with a little bit of fog rolling around on the water. Let me know what you think, thanks for checking out the site!
Once again, thanks everyone for visiting and making this worthwhile. I’ve been intermittently adding to this site when able, and today is the 50th post I’ve created since starting in January.
After watching the Tiger’s unfortunately lose to the Athletic’s yesterday afternoon, Courtney and I drove from Comerica Park in Detroit all the way up to Pointe Aux Barques lighthouse, and the accompanying campground. Woke up before the sun, wandered down to the pier, and made a few images of the light. This was probably my favorite from this morning, the lighthouse surrounded by a few trees in fall colors, and one cloud showed up to help me out.
Had a rainstorm roll through yesterday, and it made for some dramatic clouds over the St. Clair River. It just worked out that the Paul R. Tregurtha was headed northbound at the same time the sun poked through and kicked some great fall-evening light onto the area. This was the first time I’ve been able to get glass on this 1,013 foot long ship, and I’m glad the weather cooperated!
After watching the sun go down at Empire Bluffs, Courtney and I drove down towards Frankfort, MI and visited Point Betsie Lighthouse at night. I have an image of this light on here already, but that was taken a few years ago, during the day. We were both pretty creeped out by the creaking and groaning of the old metal seawall and the waves that seemed to be getting closer and closer to spraying us. I liked how the interior incandescent lighting showed up deep red against the dark blue sky, so we hung around for a few minutes, and then high-tailed it out of there!
It just wouldn’t be a trip to the U.P. without stopping to photograph the bridge! I spent the night in St. Ignace earlier this week after visiting Mackinac Island with Courtney, a set of Grandparents, and my cousin Derek. Had a great day on the island, and was treated to this view of the bridge looking south that night at about 8:30. This was a 45 second exposure that really smoothed out the choppy water, and let the yellow/gold glow of the retreating sun soak into the sensor. This was taken with my 35mm f1.8 Nikkor that I truly don’t use as much as I should, the files from it are very crisp and clean. I used it several times on this trip to good effect, and I’ll try to do so more in the future. Thanks for visiting! I’ll post a few more pictures shortly!
Enjoying one of my last few nights in town on the deck with the family and my fiance. Definitely excited for my next adventure, definitely nervous, and definitely will miss doing this kind of thing. Posts will be sporadic at best in the coming months, but I appreciate all of the traffic and kind words from everyone that has visited so far.
I know the Huron Lady isn’t a freighter, but she’s a regular on the Big River. Couldn’t pass up the opportunity to grab a shot of her headed North back to Port Huron.
